Athanasiou Winery is located in the largest Protective
Designation of Origin wine region of Greece, the historical
NEMEA.
The unique region’s terroir along with technical expertise
which stems from the continuous 3500 years of wine
production in NEMEA, provide us with the ability of
creating premium and distinctive wines at every vintage.
Athanasiou family is viticulturally
involved in Nemea since 1855,
when our great grandfather had
merely a 0.5 hectare vineyard,
planted with the Agiorgitiko
grape variety. The most
multilateral native Greek red
grape variety.
The family continued its
tradition by expanding the
vineyard through the years until
young Michael Athanasiou
created a modern winery at
2007, in the center of the Nemea
region.
We emphasize on the organic cultivation of the most
important native Greek grape varieties.
In our vineyards we cultivate Agiorgitiko, Assyrtiko,
Moschofilero grape varieties from which we create
different and unique wine styles.
